about me

Hi! I'm Dani. I'm a 40 year old mum of two boys Noah aged 8 and Oscar 5 and two girls Mietta aged 3 and Zali 2. I live in Australia (in a country town in Victoria) however originally a Melbourne chick. Very happily married to my one true love Adrian.

Adrian with Noah and Oscar

Our latest addition Zali and now our family is complete 2+2

I'm from a Serbian-Croatian background, born in Australia and it's where my heart belongs even though my heritage roots are deeply imbedded. I have very fond memories of my childhood living in Former Yugoslavia and often think about our family especially the food.

I have become a full time stay at home Mum since the birth of our second son. But I originally worked in the IT&T industry for over 15 years in various sales, marketing and management roles. This SAHM gig & managing a household of 6 people is one of my biggest job roles EVER or rather challenging…

So my goal for this blog is to perfect the right balance of a healthy, fit regime and lifestyle. I hope in return I can give you my ideas, motivate and inspire you to do the same. If I can shed nearly 30kgs AKA 70lbs so can you!!!! If you are interested in following me and my fitness regime I have an exclusive offer 50% off the FYM fat loss system and 30 days free trial at Clubfym. Click on my fitness page for my before and after pictures.

I also suffered from a severe pelvis instability condition during all my 4 pregnancies and would love to provide encouragement to those suffering, there is light at the end of the tunnel. I support the Pelvic Instability website, which is a not for profit organisation here in Australia, helping and educating women with this chronic condition.

Being a Mum to 2+2 children I am really passionate about food. I get inspired by my family’s faces, comments and compliments as I present them with their meals every day, my Mums Serbian cook books (and Dads Croatian dishes too), searching my left over ingredients (in the pantry or fridge) on Google to find a new recipe to cook every day, my travels and trying to perfect our “clean eating” habits.

We are renovating our house and pool deck area slowly on a limited budget. I love Scandi design, my monthly Belle and Inside Out subscriptions as well as exploring the internet for funky and cool pieces for home and our kids.

I love to dabble in crafty, multi-media and photography stuff and you will see my attempt on my iphone 4. One day I will actually invest in a DSLR.

My dream is to move up to Byron Bay NSW where I know my soul and body rejuvenate every time we visit there but my husband says we need to wait for the kids to finish school.

I love interiors, music, photography, camping, keeping fit (LMFAO “I work out!”), film, books (magazines really), fashion (closet fashionista!), cooking and art (only because my Mum is an artist). This little blog is just a place where I show what I’m eating, cooking, wearing, my before and after baby body pics, family adventures and what new things have inspired me.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope to see you again soon....... like every day ;-)))))

Much love xx Dani

  2. Babe, loving the site.

Little request, please put up on the side an index of recipes that you make... and would be really helpful if you put the instructions on how to make these gorgeous dishes. I know you eyeball everything, but a rough idea would be great.

Today I'm making the spinach gnocchi... so will let you know.

Good luck with the sugar free days - you'll blitz it, know probs!

  8. Hello Dani,
I have recently been following your blog and I would have to stay it is inspiring.
I am a busy working mum of two. There are days where I would love to kick the bucket however every day I see life now in a different set of eyes. The meals you create are easy and are so good to eat. Fitness regime - its hard for me at the moment, with basically being a single mum. BUT i bought a treadmill after your fitness regime inspired me.
Thank you for now being a little part of my life - in a weird a whacky way!
    Just love the blog.

  10. Hi Dani,

i found my way to your blog via a friend liking it on FB. I've just had my second child, (like JUST had - he's 6 weeks old!) and after feeling hopeless and depressed about my weight, you've given me such a boost. I'm trying a yeast free diet, and a lot of your recipes are perfect. Just wanted to know you are such an inspiration. Can I ask a personal question (feel free to ignore) are you quite tall? I only ask as your before photos look amazing for the weight you were, and I wondered if you were of supermodel height? Not that it matters of course, as it has taught me that numbers mean SFA! But it did make me feel a bit better as I too am what you weighed and it's depressing when you weigh more than your husband!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. You're right!! Numbers mean nothing. Regardless of the height I still weigh the same as those that are 5'foot. Same body fat % too. I too weighed more than my husband. Yes I am blessed with my height. 178cm.

So glad I give you hope that you can get your body back. I am here to help you. So touch base with your results. YOU CAN DO IT!!! XxDani

  11. Was wondering if you've ever had to have a c-section with any of your children. I am currently 23 weeks with number three and this will be my second c-section. After the first I found it very difficult to loose the midsection weight because the pain caused from the surgery even after 4+ months.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. No, I have never experienced c-sections. I do have girlfriends that have and they are currently on the same journey as I am, regaining their body back after having babies!! They too experienced a little pain after their c-sections, so please take care and ensure you repair and don't damage that scar from exercising too early. Let me know how you go with your pregnancy, I love babies!!!! <3 Dani

  15. Hi Dani. I'm so, so glad I've found your blog. I've been trying to find some inspiration for clean eating, and your blog has been very helpful. I had been feeling so tired and lethargic lately, and still have a few kilos to lose and tighten up after baby number 3. I've been eating clean all week, and have instantly noticed a difference in my energy levels, which has been one of the primary reasons for changing my diet. It's great to know that I'm doing the best thing for my children too, even if they do refuse to try some of the food. I'm hoping they will come around soon!
I'm a big fan of Scandi design too. I have the same coffee table as you :)
My grandfather was Crostisn, and I have married into a Croatian/Serbian family, and I am loving the culture that I have married into.
We live on the other side of Melbourne in Drouin. I'm loving the quieter life, but also have dreams of living in northern NSW st some stage.
I look forward to following your blog, and getting to know your better.

  20. Hi! I am from Oregon, USA-I found your blog through instagram while looking for a little fitness/diet motivation. I'm a mom of a young boy and girl. I am turning 38 on 2/17 and it's time I started cleaning up my nutrition. I LOVE to work out and go to the gym but my food/eating are a MESS. 25. Hi Dani,

Firstly your blog and instagram are a real inspiration!

Could you offer any advice on how to loose my lower stomach and arm fat? I exercise at least 3x or more a week at the gym taking part in classes. I have my holiday in 6 weeks therefore I am also looking to change my eating habbits. Ive decided to cut out all sugary snacks and just eat natural sugars like fruit. I really want to feel more confident on holiday and would like to know if theres anything more I can do to traget my arms and stomach.
    Age: 20
    Height: 5.3
    Weight: 8st 10lbs
Classes: 20-20-20 (20min cardio, 20mins abs, 20mins arms/legs), circuit training, zumba, fitball, kettlebell, bounce (using trampettes) and badminton.

I will appreciate any advice :)

    Thanks! R x

    1. My first advice would be to cut out ALL processed foods, high sugar and fatty foods. Combined with regular exercise you will see results. I personally only workout 15 minutes per day so watch you don't over work your body too much as it will start to store fat and burn muscle. Remember abs are made in the kitchen, so continue to cut out your sugar snacks and you will see a great change over the next 6 weeks.

Please take before and after pics as I would love to share this on my Transformation Tuesday post. To see how your body changes over 6 weeks without sugar will be a very powerful tool for a lot of people.

      Keep in touch xx Dani

    2. Hi Dani,

Sorry for the delayed reply, I have just got back from holiday.

Thank you for replying to my email, I was in much need of some advice. As from today I have begun the 6 weeks of cutting out sugar and really watching what I am eating. I would be more than happy to take before and after pictures for transformation tuesdays.

Really excited to see the results!!

    1. Hello gorgeous and welcome. Come join our Fitness Food And Style Challenges for additional support as we were ALL lazy until the penny dropped. You have to ask yourself, when can I start? To feel better, eat better and look better. I know our cultural backgrounds vary but being European my mind set was to eat ALL types of food and everything on my plate, as you don't want to go hungry! However these days, I do eat everything off my plate but the servings aren't as big as I used to have and all my food is a lot more healthier.

I am here for you and so too are the others at my Facebook group, so please come and join us xx Dani

  29. I am currently 32 weeks pregnant with my 3rd. I am so out of shape and need to get back on track but have found this pregnancy has been really hard, constant morning sickness, tired, 2 other children under 4.5 and some complications that have knocked me around mentally. I love reading your blog and aspire to get back on track and hopefully get the body I wanted after the last 2 pregnancies (and actually before those pregnancies). I am keen to see the ebook but thinking I am better off holding off until after the birth so that I can also get into the exercising and make the most of the ClubFYM offer. Is there anything that you can recommend that I can do now to at least give a little kickstart to my journey so that when the baby arrives I can really be in a good space to get underway?
    Thanks
